Description

What is the reason for defining the AggregateFunctionsType as own type?

Part 5 defines the AggregateFunctions component of the ServerCapabilitiesType already as FolderType and it defines the BrowseName.

Defining a derived type of FolderType in Part 13 is not wrong but it does also not provide any additional value. The browse name is already enough information to identify the object.

Adding this type is only creating additional effort for a type and confusion between Part 5 and Part 13.

If we want to keep this type, the .NET sample code should be fixed. There the AggregateFunctionsType is a subtype of BaseObjectType and not of the FolderType.

The AggregateFunctionsType describes a folder than contains AggregateFunctions. A Folder of this type can appear on every instance of a Historical Data Node in addition to appearing in the Server Capabilities and History Capabilities objects. For this reason the type is useful.
