Summary0002649: UA should support subscriptions for offline clients
Description

UA already supports subscriptions that outlive the sessions they were created on to support quick failure recovery and redundancy failover, but this inherent mechanism should be extended to support clients that are only connected periodically to the server. Here the Subscription should survive for long periods between connections by the client (days or weeks). Additionally, the servers should persist the data queued for the clients in non-volatile memory (disk or flash) to eliminate large losses of data due to crashes or power failures.

Additional Information

Discussed in Dallas F2F and agreed to add a UA method to Part 5 (logically called per Subscription) that a Client calls to request that its queues be persisted. This combined with long timeouts will provide for offline Subscriptions.
