Summary | 0004940: SNRequestAllocated & SNtoEncoded without application
Description | The OPENSCSPoolManagerObjectType defines a 'SNRequestAllocated' method which is not covered by the Serial Number State and Event Model. The SNRequestAllocated is not needed as the immediate follow-up is either SNtoAllocated or the LabelsEncodingEvent (or SIDCommisioningEvent) Also, the SNtoEncoded is not required as LabelsEncodingEvent covers this.

need to revisit as per 0004932 |
|
The SNRequestAllocated is intended to cover the situation in which there is a separate system that is managing the encoding and it makes "pulls" for serial numbers. Normally these would be pushed by a higher level system, but we also want to handle the case where the lower level can pull the values when they need them. This is used when a "kanban" type of product management system is used (where downstream systems pull from upstream systems). The SNtoEncoded is the sending of Serial Number using the 'push" model, where the SNs are sent to a labeling/printing device. This is not to be confused with the LabelsEncodingEvent, which is the result of the action of encoding the SN into a label. |
