Summary0008261: Part 83, section 7.7.1 It is not possible to sign parts of a Descriptor. (from G. Biehler)
Description

The wording in section 7.7.1 means that it is not possible to sign parts of a descriptor … I think this breaks the use case, where one starts with a descriptor and adds AML files and attachments to it. Validation of the signature would only be possible by using the embedded descriptors – right? If so, it would be nice to state that somewhere.

No change is required. It is intended to allow only whole descriptor signatures.. If later things are added the a resign needs to take place.
Discussion with Martin Dickopp: Confirmed to have whole signatures a Descriptor. But old signatures can be still useful to see whether content (files) have been changed and to authenticate unchanged files. Existing signatures should not be removed, even if they become partially invalid. This will be described in detail in C2D.
