| Description | As discussed in 2023-02-14 UA WG call, the UAFX WG has requirements for controllers to support host name resolution via DNS. Ideally, the UAFX spec would be able to point to content and profiles in the UA spec, since this is capability not specific to UAFX. It was agreed that the best solution would be to have CUs/facets for DNS client capability, along with some clarifications in Parts 4/5/6 (for client/server) as needed and Part 14 for PubSub See the attached powerpoint for more detailed information. | ||||

7.3.2 OPC UA UDP Added If the Address specifies a domain name then the resolution to an IP address requires access to a domain name resolution service (e.g., the DNS protocol) that maps the domain name onto a usable network address. OPC 10000-7 defines Profiles for different name resolution protocols that Publisher or Subscriber may support. |
