Description
  • Each Client or Server on a network has a unique ApplicationUri. An ApplicationUri chosen by the CompositeBuilder may not be appropriate when the Composite is connected to the external network. For this reason, all externally visible Applications shall create their default ApplicationUri derived from the Device ProductInstanceUri which is specified in the subjectAltName field of the DeviceIdentity Certificate.

Clarifications asking for:

  1. What is meant with “shall create their default ApplicationUri”?
    a. Exists somehow more than one ApplicationUri?
  2. Does this mean that it is not allowed to modify/change the ApplicationUri for the needs in a network?
  3. Does this mean that if the device is replaced - as a spare part - but uses e.g. the same hard disk, he has to recreate all trust relationships to and from all other devices because the ApplicationUri has changed, which means that new certificates are required for all related devices?

A good formulation could be: "For this reason, all externally visible Applications might create their default ApplicationUri derived from the Device ProductInstanceUri which is specified in the subjectAltName field of the DeviceIdentity Certificate. The ApplicationUri can be adapted to customer needs bevor it is registered to a GDS. But be aware, that changing the ApplicationUri after the application is registered to a GDS that all trust relationships will be lost.
