Summary | 0008319: Determining precedence of Layer 2 and Layer 3 priority
Description | It is possible to define priority settings at both Layer 2 (DSCP) and Layer 3 (PCP and VLAN). In these cases, how is the precedence determined in the Bridge behavior?

Defer to C2D. For now, this is implicitly handled by the recommended PCP/DSCP usage (see Part 82, Table 1). |

This resolution will take more investigation. The choice is not totally clear, as it depends on the overall configuration of the network. For example, if TSN features are being used, VLAN should take precedence. If a CNC is involved in the configuration of the Bridges, there must be a clear understanding of what the precedence is, i.e., a "shall" requirement. Some Bridges on the market today allow this to be configured, e.g., Cisco has a "trust" configuration selection of one or the other. The network administrator makes this decision with the Bridge configuration based on the mapping table. We will come back to this once C2D work begin. |
