Summary0010390: Clarify difference between untagged vs Best Effort (tagged with PCP 0, DSCP 0) QoS.
Description

There is ambiguity in definition and usage of the Best Effort (sometimes spelled "best-effort") term in Parts 14, 81 and 82.

"UAFX Stations can use Best Effort or priority-based QoS for OPC UA PubSub traffic"
Then there is Table 1, which specifies priority mapping of Best Effort to be PCP=0, DSCP=0.

It was discussed in Esslingen F2F that there are 2 valid cases which should be possible to configure:

  • Sending untagged ethernet frames
  • Sending tagged ethernet frames with priority label mapped to "Best Effort" according Table 1.

Differences must be clearly described, as all options must be representable in UAFX AC Capabilities and then in UAFX Descriptors.
Based on these capabilities, EngTools must be able to display some kind of selection control (e.g. combo box), from which user can select which QoS options to apply. Finally UAFX ConnectionManager must push the selected value within PubSubConfiguration to UAFX AutomationComponents.
