Summary0001578: Automatic configuration of Nodes within the Settings
Description

To expedite the configuration process a wizard should be created that can automatically browse the server's address space to detect the nodes that the CTT needs for testing.

This would be an optional thing that would require end-users to invoke. We do not want this to be automatically executed etc. because it could be very time-consuming and expensive.

Another idea would be to provide this option independently based on the type of settings to configure, for example:
(a) Data Access data-types
(b) Scalar
(c) Historical nodes
In each case the end-user could specify a starting-point for where the automatic browsing would begin so as to avoid a complete address-space traversal.

I think this is an important feature, currently it can take quite a while to configure the CTT, the ability to automatically populate the configuration would be much better. It would also ensure fewer mistakes (i.e. wrong data type selected etc.) A user would always be given the option to review or change what is configured

in my opinion requiring this for an offical run of the CTT would be a good thing (even if it takes a long time) then vendors could not cheat and pick points that would help them pass the CTT (i.e. ones that have the correct behaviour) when most of there server does not.

It is our opinion that without this assistance and with the current fairly extensive required configuration, the CTT is to difficult to use in a productive manner. Thus changed the priority to normal and changed state to assigned

This feature would really help vendors and ensure proper configuration. But due to the short time schedule I recommend to defer it to the next CTT release.
