During of the installation of OPC Core Components 3.00 Redistributable (x64), version 3.00.105.1 on my local Windows 2008 R2 x64 machine running on intel i3 processor an error is thrown.

Reproduction steps:

1. Run installation of OPC Core components ver. 3.00.105.1 on intel processor (important) from command prompt:
   "OPC Core Components Redistributable (x64).msi" /l* log.txt
2. Proceed with installation
3. When error is throws open log.txt, it should contain something like:

   Error 1721. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action: _749B8346_F0B8_4DD2_ACB3_97B46BF1A0F1, location: C:\Program Files\Common Files\OPC Foundation\Bin\OpcCategoryManager.exe, command: /RegServer

4. In event log there should be error entry:
   Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\Common Files\OPC Foundation\Bin\OpcCategoryManager.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.CRT,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.
