| Description | Since OPC Core Components 3.00.101.0 (2008-07-08) installer is requiring .Net Framework. For example, take a clean Windows XP SP2 system. Install fails in current version (3.00.105.1) if one doesn't choose "Yes" when asked to install .Net Framework. | ||||
| Additional Information | In previous versions it would install normally. Tested with 2.00.2.30 (shows a message, but install) and versions 3.00.1.00, 3.00.1.01, 3.00.1.02 (install silently, no errors) http://www.opcfoundation.org/DownloadFile.aspx/Core Components/105/OPC Core Components Readme 105.1.htm?RI=821 In no point of the "description" of new builds it's announced this change of behavior. Also the README for current version still says: "The installers automatically check if the .NET framework is installed on a particular system; if it is not found the .NET components are not installed." This indeed was true for previous versions. | ||||

Also, the error message saying ".Net Framework 2.0 or higher is required" (or something like that) is misleading - it will not install if only .Net Framework 4.0 is installed. |

We have the same problem with OPC UA SDK merge modules. Our product uses only v 4.0 and setup only succeeded on Vista\Windows 7 (not clean XP), because they have integrated Net Framework v 3.x. |
