Summary0001756: Table 162 - SoftwareCertificate: Restructuring of parameters?
Description

A conf. call between Randy Armstrong, Matthias Isele, and Nathan Pocock discussed this on Sep-21-2011.

The following thoughts were raised with regards the parameters listed:

  1. rename profileId to profileUri.
  2. remove the orgnaizationUri.
  3. move complianceDate out of supportedProfiles[] to the parent.
  4. move complianceTool out of supportedProfiles[] to the parent.
  5. rename unsupportedUnitIds[] to unsupportedUnitUris[]?

Item #5 is difficult right now because there does not appear an Id or a URI for conformance units in the spec or the web-based application.

During the meeting we discussed the reasoning behind the location of the complianceDate and complianceTool etc. but wondered if it might make more sense to simply have an application issue several softwareCertificates if the testing conducted on an application is fragmented over seperate test dates etc.

(1) Changed ProfileId to ProfileUri
(2) We need the organization since profiles are defined by different organizations. Not sure if we need a URI. The organization name should be fine since the ProfileUri must be unique.
(3)(4) We need the tool assigned to the profile since different organizations may use different tools
(5) Changed unsupportedUnitIds to unsupportedUnitUris

If there are no URIs defined for conformance units, we must enter a mantis issue for Part 7.

I think it makes things much more complicated if a product has different software certificates. The software certificate reflects the level of profiles and certification at a certain point in time / software version.

Discussed in Boca meeting. There are several issues with the structure and in particular with the potential size of the structure that could overrun the max message size of the client and/or server. How or if this is fixed or defered for the 1.02 release needs to be determined.

Changes to the SoftwareCertificate should be decided during the process of implementing the infrasturcture for SoftwareCertificate management.

Reverted changes from 1.02 spec to make sure we do not change the defenition twice.
