Description

What should happen to the queue of an item that is modified via ModifyMonitoredItems?

Currently there are two schools of thought:

  1. Clear the queue
  2. Resize the queue while preserving data

Obviously, a reduction in the queue size will purge some (but not all) data.

My proposal would be to do it through the normal overflow handling.
Clarified with Paul - what he remembers matches what I want to propose.

Added the following clarification to parameter requestedParameters in ModifyMonitoredItems:
If the number of notifications in the queue exceeds the new queue size, the notifications exceeding the size shall be discarded following the configured discard policy.

Resolved in document IEC 62541-4 - Services [Pre-CDV] 1.02.06.doc
