Summary0002601: 5.6.2 Variable NodeClass MaxArrayLength to apply to ByteString?
Description

IOP Sep-17-2013:

A ByteString is defined as a scalar. However, it's length might be changeable, or not, but it is server specific. The following clarifications to the spec are requested:

Do the ValueRank and ArrayDimensions attributes apply to a ByteString?
Does the MaxArrayLength attribute apply to ByteString?

These questions will have an impact on the UACTT.

The latest Part 3 spec states in the Variable NodeClass table for the ValueRank attribute:
"NOTE: All DataTypes are considered to be scalar, even if they have array-like semantics like ByteString and String."
From my point of view this clearly answers your questions.

Added a clarification to MaxArrayLength and agreed in telecon.
