Summary0002950: Possible additional namespace / unitId list for EUInformation / EngineeringUnits
Description

IEC 62720 describes extended SI units as codes like UAB158.

This standard is referenced by AutomationML and is also used by eCl@ss.

Ingo Weber does have more background information and also a contact person who is expert for this standard.

Additional Information

IEC/TS 62720 ed1.0
Title: Identification of units of measurement for computer-based processing
Publication date: 2013-05-22
Stability date: 2017

Abstract:
IEC/TS 62720:2013 specifies identifiers for units to support computer-based processing of product data. It provides a survey of quantities with associated collections of internationally standardized as well as non-standardized units used in business and science. It concerns any standard or non-standard units of measure currently in use, in two or more distinct ethno-linguistic groups or nations, at least in one domain of industry, for which an explicit method of conversion to a known standard unit of measure or its equivalent is well documented or evident from external references.

Not sure if Part 8 should include a second unit spec. What is missing from UN/CEFAC that this brings? Companion specs like AutomationML can always specify their alternate units standard.

IEC 62720 is the printed version of the Common Data Dictionary (IEC CDD - https://cdd.iec.ch/).

Adding the IEC CDD would be easy, but it is just one of several other dictionaries like UCUM, QUDT. LaTeX SI Unit Extension).
With the syntax references in the new quantity model it is easy to correlate UNECE with the IEC CDD.

Closed following discussion with Matthias Damm.
The new Quantity Model allows to refer from Engineering Units to other dictionaries like the IEC CDD.
