| Description | Use case: a structure that is usable in the server (PLC) but contains fields that are not exposed in UA or are marked as read-only where others are read-write. The server needs to indicate that the Variable node is not able to supply the value, the configuration is invalid, or that access is restricted in same way. Some servers set the DataType attribute to NULL (i=0) to indicate this. This violates the spec in part 3, section 8.2.4, but it is not obvious how this part of the spec applies to the DataType attribute. There needs to be a definitive statement that prohibits the use of NULL as a DataType attribute in a Variable or VariableType node. | ||||
