Summary0009391: Base Info Core Structure / 000: Needs conceptional discussion
Description

We need to discuss whether with 1.05 version testing we still can enforce/expect that all products coming for 1.05 certification have the latest NodeSet file for 1.05 loaded.

From an initial discussion we had the following arguments to keep existing:

  • With 1.05 we have finer granular CUs and type definitions which do allow a server to exclude any not needed types from the servers address space. With this they can always update to the newest namespace without the need of code changes. so updating to the latest version shouldn't be a problem.

To change existing:

  • We can create test cases for every nodeset change to ensure servers having the affected types have the latest fixes without looking at the NodeSet version. But this would cause a lot of work.

Initial discussion is that we want to make sure new items in information models are added in new CU, and if a model includes something newer then what we have testing for - just a warning is generate - since it means the tester will have to handle it.
