Summary0002918: Provide an alternative to Browse and TranslateBrowsePathsToNodeIds
Description

On devices, the implementation and especially the processing of Browse and TranslateBrowsePathsToNodeIds is very expensive. In addition the process of discovering the address space is very chatty and may take a long time on slow networks. See also related issue.

Additional Information

It would be good to provide a binary file upload as alternative to Browse, Translate and Read of attributes other than value. It may consist of

  • FileObject for the address space (excluding namespace 0) or per namespace
  • Version property to detect updates

Consider adding a zipped format to the existing Server File Object that returns the Nodeset file.
